Not a lot has changed in our industry now that the dust has settled and members of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has endorsed the consent agreement with the Commissioner of Competition.
Certainly the changes are not what some in the media and the general public perceive them to be. For example, an interviewer on a national radio news show this week noted that many consumers seem to ...

I recently met a couple in their mid-forties, both employed, no kids. They’re looking to sell their modest 3 bedroom home and find something a little bigger, maybe a little better, with a bit more land.
Prior to meeting them to list their home, they had already spent several weeks searching MLS.ca web-site, only to find homes they liked already sold, listing agents not returning calls, ...

Yesterday an agreement between the Federal Competition Bureau and CREA was ratified: "CREA shall not adopt, maintain, or enforce any rules that deny the ability of members to provide mere postings for sellers, or that discriminate against members because they offer, or wish to offer, mere postings for sellers.”
What does this mean to you, the buyer or seller? It means that discount agents who ...

Recently I was asked to co-host a morning radio show program at one of our local radio stations- Ocean 100 FM. One of their hosts is away, so they decided to bring in a local person each day to share the studio. I jumped at the chance!
Since then many people have asked if I wished I worked in radio instead of being a real estate broker. Of course, for me it was just plain fun as I ...

When I started in commercial Real Estate, I was only 20. I wore collared shirts and cardigan sweaters all the time; I styled my hair conservatively, and aligned my fashion with the goal of looking older. According to a recent study, the average age of commercial real estate agents is 56. I am now almost 31.
I have nothing against older people. In fact, many of my clients are older ...

They live and work at almost complete opposite ends of the country, but Serge Normand and George Bamber have something substantial in common: they were both chosen by their peers within the CENTURY 21 Canada system for the top 2009 awards.
Serge Normand (right), a sales associate at Century 21 Nord-Sud in Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec was voted Sales Associate of the Year, while George Bamber, broker/owner ...

We did it! Team Century 21 Classic made the 2010 Halifax Easter Seals Drop Zone a success by being the single largest contributing team to the Campaign - with close to $11,000 raised.
Here's proof positive that "Cat Woman" (that's me, see the first video below) and the rest of the gang did conquer the Drop Zone.
Christiane "Cat Woman" Bray
Anita "The Charm" ...

I just returned from visiting with an elderly woman who recognizes that she needs to sell her property, but hasn't yet because she is overwhelmed by the very thought of moving.
As we sat and talked for a couple of hours, I really got to know her and the challenges she faces every day. I too would be overwhelmed... and frustrated for that matter.
She knew some of the basics ...

There is nothing to fear but fear itself... and heights. Well, at least that applies to me; I’ve been afraid of high places all my life.
But I’ve decided that if I am truly going to be a champion of Easter Seals and their amazing Kids to Camp program to send children with disabilities to summer camp (and the cause is very near and dear to my heart) then I need to put it in action.

CENTURY 21 2010 Conference just ended yesterday. It was informative, enriching and a very fulfilling experience.
I am a believer in situated learning; at the conference we had the benefit of purposefully interacting with presenters and discussion leaders regarding content fundamental to our business as REALTORS™ and trends that will shape our future. We also learn from our peers about various ...
