Chiyoko Kakino appointed vice president of marketing at CENTURY 21 Canada.
After two decades providing franchisees with effective marketing support, Chiyoko Kakino understands the importance of establishing a consistent, future-focused brand that differentiates itself from its competition.
“It’s crucial to listen and provide franchisees with the tools, support and coaching they need to thrive as business owners. That’s my commitment,” said Kakino, vice president, marketing, CENTURY 21 Canada™. “The values CENTURY 21® stands for – leadership, trust, knowledge, and expertise – resonate so strongly with my own. I’m inspired to bring my experience to a brand with such powerful global impact and local focus.”
Kakino’s marketing career includes driving the renewal and expansion of two well-regarded Canadian restaurant franchises. She started with Vancouver-based White Spot Limited, where she revitalized and drove the brand’s growth. She was a key part of the team that successfully launched the restaurant’s quick service concept Triple O’s in major venues including Roger’s Arena, Chevron, and BC Ferries. She also served as senior vice president, brand strategy and marketing for RAMMP Hospitality Brands. While there, she championed campaigns that elevated the MR MIKES, The Pantry, and Rockwell’s Bar and Grill franchises in their communities and positioned the brands as leaders in the industry at large.
Kakino most recently led over four years of steady growth for cosmetic aesthetics company Dermal Laser Centres after being appointed CEO by prominent businessmen, Jim Treliving (of the Dragon’s Den TV series) and George Melville.
“Chiyoko brings national experience in brand management, market research, new product development, earned media, PR, and advertising,” said Martin Charlwood, vice chairman and CEO, CENTURY 21 Canada. “Franchisees are already welcoming the experience she brings to the organization, and were excited to learn about the robust marketing initiatives she and her team introduced into the field as presented at our national conference in Charlottetown last month. The leadership team welcomes her expertise to our big picture strategies.”
Kakino now leads and strategizes all marketing initiatives for CENTURY 21 Canada. As well, she oversees marketing programs for the entire Charlwood Pacific Group (CPG): The master franchise holder of the CENTURY 21 brand in Canada and Asia-Pacific regions, UNIGLOBE Travel International, CENTUM Canada, and Real Property Management Canada. CPG is a Canadian family-owned and operated global franchising organization founded by International Franchise Association (IFA) “Hall of Fame” entrepreneur, U. Gary Charlwood.
Kakino is dedicated to fundraising for charities and has served as a board member for the BC Hospital Foundation. She was also one of the very first recipients of the Easter Seals Golden Heart award from CENTURY 21 Canada for her exceptional support of families living with disabilities.
