According to recent statistics, 16 million Canadians spend no less than 1 hour a day on Facebook. Since Statistics Canada reported a population of 33,212,696 citizens in July 2008, that equals 48.48% of all Canadians use Facebook.
People of all ages are 'Facebooking' for social reasons as well as to discover new business opportunities - and CENTURY 21 Canada is right there to provide information and a place to chat in the world's most popular social networking site.
Social Media and online searches are rapidly outpacing traditional job search methods, and we recognize the importance of a strong presence in these mediums. To that end, we've launched the CENTURY 21 Careers page is dedicated to real estate career information, learning and conversation.
Some of the other features at the CENTURY 21 Careers Facebook page are:
- National job postings under the Careers tab
- Videos of people talking about their real estate careers
- Links to career events/job fairs across the country
- People sharing tips and shortcuts gleaned from their own job searches
This week, CENTURY 21 Canada also started a Facebook campaign that uses the sponsored ad space on the news feed on targeted Facebook users' home pages. We believe that now is the time to become licensed and trained as a realtor, so as the market continues to rebound, you'll be ready with a new, successful career.(You can learn more at Century21careers.ca, powered by industry-leading online job search engine Monster.ca.)
CENTURY 21 Canada's corporate Facebook page features teasers of the Talk21 national blog, useful links and photo albums. Predating that presence is a CENTURY 21 Canada grassroots group on Facebook, with almost 600 members sharing videos, photos, events, and comments. It was started by Lisa Lawrence, a CENTURY 21 sales representative in Richmond, BC earlier in 2009.
CENTURY 21 Canada doesn't ignore Twitter either: Century 21 has both a corporate Twitter stream, and tweets under C21Careers.
And, of course, none of this includes all the Facebook business pages and profiles of realtors from the family of 7,500+ CENTURY 21 system members across Canada. Nor all the hundreds of Twitter accounts they run, too.
