The first annual Trees for Toys event collected more than 325 toys for teenagers and received more than $415 to the Red Kettle Campaign of the Salvation Army - far exceeding the expected goal!
Trees for Toys - held Saturday December 12 in the parking lot of the Century 21 Miller Real Estate building on Speers Road in Oakville - is a non-profit event where Christmas Trees were given away to the first 100 people who donated an unwrapped toy or gift. This year, the focus was on toys for teenagers, as they are often overlooked.
All toys and cash donated were given to the 14th Annual Salvation Army Toy Mountain campaign that covers Oakville and area teenagers. All unclaimed trees were donated to families in the Oakville area.
Everyone visits with Santa Claus as well as participating in face painting, entertainment and refreshments
As you can imagine, without the support from the many volunteers and sponsors, the dream and goal of this program could not be realized. It is truly satisfying that the following sponsors contributed generously to making Trees for Toys such a huge success.
