I wanted to share this example of great generosity demonstrated by some Canadian children last year:
Three local children in Pembroke, Ontario heard that a real estate office in their town - Century 21 Neville Realty - had pledged to raise $6,300 to send three local kids with disabilities to camp through the national Easter Seals program last year.
So, Regan Jones, Gabrielle Neville and Maggie O'Brien asked all of their friends, who were invited to their birthday parties, to make a donation to Easter Seals instead of buying birthday gifts for them. As a result of this bright idea - and sacrifice of self-interest - Regan, Gabrielle and Maggie raised a total of $1,170!
Century 21 Neville Real Estate - through a garage sale, barbeque as well as the kids' help - reached their goal and sent three Pembroke-area kids to camp this past summer. And not just any camp: they spent 10 days singing by campfires, swimming, enjoying a climbing wall, high rope course and giant swing - all fully accessible to kids with disabilities.
Easter Seals Camps serve more than 6,000 children with disabilities annually at 22 locations across Canada. Nationally, CENTURY 21 Canada has thrown out the challenge to its system of 7,500+ real estate professionals to send a total of 200 kids to camp. You can help by sponsoring a real estate professional.
