What does this new year hold for Canadian home buyers and sellers? I certainly feel we have a pretty clear picture of how the first half of 2010 will shape up.
January to June, 2010, will see several factors converge to strengthen the real estate market:
- Pent-up demand by buyers will make for an active Spring market
- An increase in the number of listings - taking the pressure off of house price increases
- Incentive to buy a home in BC and Ontario before the new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) takes effect
- Interest rates will stay relatively low... until the second half of 2010
I elaborate on these points in this short, informal video:
Starting next week, I'll be hosting a series of CENTURY 21 events across Canada, where I’ll have the opportunity to talk to our brokers and sales representatives in every regional housing market.
I look forward to providing you with a snapshot of our industry and the Spring 2010 housing market over the next few months.
