McKenzie Lake

McKenzie Lake

McKenzie is a beautiful, medium-sized and newly developed lake community located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary. Currently amassing just over 14,000 of Calgary’s residents, one-third of homeowners in McKenzie Lake are between the ages of 35 and 54 (City of Calgary, 2012). Residents overwhelmingly live in single detached homes, but a small number of row and semi-detached homes do exist (Ibid). As reflected in most of Calgary’s premier lakefront communities, the median income of homeowners residing in this gorgeous community does tend to be higher than Calgary’s average (Ibid).

Residents that commute downtown have quick and easy access to the Shawnessy and Somerset/Bridlewood LRT stations. Each offer a brief ~35 minute commute to Calgary’s downtown core and are a nice way to avoid the morning traffic. The community of McKenzie Lake is also central to both the Deerfoot Highway and McLeod Trail. As Calgary’s main north/south arteries, residents can commute downtown or away from the city and into Calgary’s rolling countryside without difficulty.
