Mission Real Estate Listings and Information
Mission is one of Calgary’s premier inner-city neighborhoods. Adjacent to the Stampede grounds and in the heart of downtown, this neighborhood is situated in one of the best locations that the downtown core has to offer. Mission houses ~4,300 of Calgary’s residents, ~1,500 of which are between the ages of 25 and 34 (City of Calgary, 2012). While the majority of homeowners and renters in the neighborhood of Mission tend to live in apartments, a small quantity of single-detached, semi-detached and row homes are also available for rent or purchase (Ibid).
There are several schools in and around the neighborhood for children of all ages. Homeowners and renters in the Mission area can choose from the following: W.H. Cushing Workplace School (K-3), Our Lady of Lourdes, (1-12) Maria Montessori School (3-12 years), Earl Grey School (K-6), Connaught School (K-6), St. Monica (K-9), Rideau Park School (K-9), Mount Royal School (7-9), Mount Royal School (7-9), Langevin School (K-9), Elboya School (K-9), Western Canadian High School (10-12) and St. Mary’s (10-12) (Calgary Board of Education, 2012).
Homeowners and renters in the Mission area are walking distance to some of Calgary’s most popular downtown bars and restaurants. The shops of 17th Ave and The Core Shopping Centre are within walking distance and together comprise luxury, boutique and standard retail stores. Residents are also ~20 minutes away from Chinook Mall, one of Calgary’s premier shopping locations that has stores to keep every member of the family occupied.
Those eager to spend more time outdoors will love Mission’s proximity to the scenic trails along the Bow River. Roxboro, Elbow Island, Erlton Reader Rock Greens and Stanley Park are also a short walk from the community and a great place to escape city life. If you frequent the gym or love organized sports, the Talisman Centre is blocks from the community and has state of the art facilities and year round recreational activities for residents of all ages! Enjoy the Stampede? The grounds are a hope and skip from the community and present a great opportunity to partake in the festivities!
Those who work in the downtown core can easily walk or bike to work. There are also several LRT stations adjacent to the community – Erlton/Stampede, Victoria/Stampede, 39th Avenue and Sultana LRT stations are within a few kilometers of the Mission neighborhood and can have residents downtown in ~10 minutes.
