Kelowna's First Outdoor Skating Rink Is Set To Open In Early December
Grab your skates lace them up and get ready - Kelowna's only public outdoor skating rink is scheduled to open early next month. The rink was constructed at the new Stuart Park
across from City Hall and according to City officials it is expected to open in early December sometime. It takes approximately a week to make the ice but cold consistent temperatures are needed to get the rink ready for public use
City staff are saying that header boards are still needing to be installed as well as some mechanical and electrical work for the Zamboni building. Weather dependent and money dependent the rink is likely to have ice during the months of December and January and possibly longer if both weather and budget allow.
Unfortunately, the public is being reminded that the Stuart Park outdoor rink is a skating rink only. Because the rink is not regulation size and there are no boards in place, hockey is prohibited. Be sure to come to downtown and check out Kelowna's newest winter attraction!
