Nanaimo is located along the East coast of South-central Vancouver Island. It is approximately 110 km North of Victoria and 55 km West of Vancouver (across the Strait of Georgia). Nanaimo is British Columbia’s sixth-largest city with a population over 83,810 (2011 census). Nanaimo’s population for 2016 is estimated at 94,676 based on BC Statistics. It is the second largest urban centre on Vancouver Island and it has been growing at nearly the same rate as the province.
