A recent decision by the Supreme Court of Canada has brought hope for owners of leaky condos.
Under their new ruling, people with leaky condos will be entitled to recoup most of the cost of the damages caused by the defective construction (by sub contractors) from the general contractor's insurance.
The original claims, made by leaky condo owners to the insurance companies were denied as the companies claimed that the policy did not cover the work of the subcontractors.
The new ruling will oblige the contractor's insurance to pay for the faulty work done by subcontractors and will help the 40,000 onwers of units that are expected to need repair in future.
