Sayward, BC

The Sayward Valley is a charming community of approximately 1200 people located on North Vancouver Island, about 50 minutes north of Campbell River or two hours south of Port Hardy.   Known for its friendly people and spectacular natural environment,Sayward is ringed by majestic mountains near Kelsey Bay on famous Johnstone Strait.

As with all communities on the North Island, Sayward was once only easily accessible by water. It was not until after World War II that a gravel road connected Sayward with Campbell River and not until 1979 that a paved road connected the North Island.

The road to Sayward is now part of the Inland Island Highway route, and is well-maintained and a scenic and comfortable drive.
