This year is the 50th anniversary of the annual Trail Silver City days and festivities start off tomorrow in downtown Trail. I realized just now that I've actually been here in Trail for half of the lifespan of this event. Suddenly seems more momentous somehow. I also realized that I've been to my fair share of them and it's fun to check it out no matter what age you are. When our son was small ... Read More...

What a great start to the 116th Rossland Winter Carnival! Hundreds turned out to kick off the Carnival at 02:30 this morning. Canada AM was on scene for a live broadcast to our fellow Canadians out east. The Ice bar sculptures were taking shape, real works of art.  If you don't know Rosslanders let me share this with you, my wife Lori and I got downtown at around 4am and the first person we ran ... Just have to share a memory of Haida Gwaii. 21 years ago today, my ready to deliver wife and I were on the deck of the inter island ferry MV Kwuna very late at night, the island nurse had roused the off duty crew to make the ship ready to sail. I can almost tell the day when the local market started to fall - I used to wake up to a computer screen full of e-mail inquiries on local Real Estate, my pager, voice mail and cell phone rang constantly on a daily basis.  In January of 2008 there were only 7 houses on the market in Rossland (it showed up as 10 but 3 of those had accepted offers).  If you were looking to sell, that would ...
