Olympic Cauldron to be be re-lit on February 12th and April 6th
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, the Olympic cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza (across from Vancovuer Convention Centre West) will be re-lit on February 12, 2011.
Then again on April 6th, 2011, the cauldron will be used as a giant birthday cake candle as Jack Poole Plaza will host Birthday Live. Vancouver will come together to celebrate 125 years of history with a free, fun-filled, family-friendly event that honours our city’s diversity, First Nations heritage and distinction as a Cultural Capital of Canada for 2011. The Birthday Live celebration will begin mid-afternoon and continue through the evening with live music and entertainment, innovative visual art, children’s activities and more. Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson and other dignitaries will be on hand for official ceremonies including lighting the cauldron and cutting a BIG birthday cake!
