View Royal, BC
View Royal became a municipality on December 5th 1988 with less than 5000 Residence and 2,500 hectares of land. Now there are more than 9,300 residences however the small town character still remains. This Gateway between the growing West Shore municipalities and Victoria’s Urban Center has become a thriving community. View Royal is served by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Waste disposal is done on a private basis and areas within the township are protected by a tree-cutting bylaw.
Parks and recreation
View Royal boasts many recreational opportunities - both indoors and out. The Town has over 700 hectares of parkland and encompasses McKenzie, Pike, Prior and Thetis Lakes and portions of Esquimalt Harbour and Portage Inlet. The Capital Regional District's well-utilized Galloping Goose Trail traverses the Town. View Royal is also a member of the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society with complete recreational opportunities such as a swimming pool, weight room, soccer fields, a nine hole par three golf course and organized classes and programs.
