Crescentwood is located in the south-central part of the city. The neighbourhood  is bounded on the north by the Assiniboine River, on the east by Stafford Street, on the south by the CN Rail Line and on the west by Cambridge Street. Crescentwood, named for a tight bend in the Assiniboine River, has many exclusive homes along Wellington Crescent along the river. There is much redevelopment on Corydon Ave, between Pembina Highway and Stafford Street, where the period streetlights and flowerpots grace the neighbourhood’s towney stores and restaurants.

The community of Crescentwood is managed by the Winnipeg School Division. There are three elementary schools; Grosvenor School (N-6), Harrow School (N-6), Rockwood School (N-6) and two high schools; Grant Park High School (7-12), Kelvin High School (9-12). For students attending middle school there are options (find schools in your area). Also within Crescentwood is the St Ignatius School. (K-8).

Just a few minutes away is Osborne Village which is best known for its bohemian collection of stores and restaurants and Corydon Ave has a number of the city’s nicest restaurants and shops. Within the community is the Grant Park Shopping Centre which is home to around 70 stores. It is anchored by Zellers, Safeway, Manitoba Liquor Mart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Empire Theatres, Tim Hortons and  Petro-Canada, Applebee's, and Pony Corral have stand-alone locations in the mall parking lot.

This area has abundant recreational opportunities. For the culturally minded, there is a live theatre in Osborne Village, and many bars there have live bands. Grant Park has a movie theatre multiplex, and beside the mall is Grant Park, which is home to the Pan Am Pool and Athletic Grounds. The Central Corydon Community Centre (C4) is the collaboration of Sir John Franklin, River Heights, and Crescentwood Community Centres, it provides indoor and outdoor recreation and leisure activies.
