Transcona

Transcona is built for and by the railroads around the turn of the century and is between the two transcontinental rail lines for the CPR and CN. This has created large rail yards, as well as sprawling industrial areas on both sides of the community. To the east is the Red River Floodway, limiting the community’s future growth. The area is undergoing a transformation from its railway working class roots, as it is attracting new manufacturing companies (like Palliser Furniture, New Flyer Industries). There are four main neighbourhoods in Transcona: the part north of the CN rail yards (which includes Melrose, Kern Park, Kildare Redonda, North Transcona, and Canterbury Park to the east), the area north of the diagonal railway spur (including Kildonan Meadows and Lakeside Meadows), Mission Gardens (south of Regent, west of the CN Yards), and South Transcona, south of the railway yards.

Transcona makes up a neighbourhood of roughly 11,900 homes. Please see the Interactive Property Map for more information.

For the lifestyle choice of condominiums, Transcona offers many condo community choices, with styles to suit every taste and budget. They are located throughout the area with easy access to all the amenities and transportation offered in this neighbourhood.

The schools in Transcona are managed by the River East Transcona School Division. There are 13 schools within this division, 7 elementary schools, 1 elementary/middle school, 2 middle schools and 3 high schools. Also included in the Transcona community are two christian schools, Immanuel Christian School and Calvin Christian School.

There are a number of small retails stores and services scattered around the community. The bulk of retail activity is along Regent Ave, just to the west of the community, including Home Outfitters, Future Shop, Toys R Us, Best Buy, a host of car dealerships and many more. Kildonan Place Shopping Centre, and Crossroads Shopping Centre straddling Regent Street, the former with a multiplex cinema. There are also a numerous amount of restaurants located on Regent Ave and Lagimodiere.

Transcona has a large amount of undeveloped land in the area, and also has a number of fine parks. Just west of Plessis Rd is the New Tall Grass Prairie Preserve preserving the wilderness prairie environment. Just south of Dugald Rd is the Transcona Golf Club and the Transcona Country Club and the Harbour View course is 2 km north of the community. Transcona has 2 community halls, 2 Rec Centres, 5 tennis courts, 3 running tracks, 3 outdoor rinks, 2 indoor arenas, 2 indoor pools, and the city’s best (lit) ball stadium. A new man-made lake south of the community is becoming popular with area water-skiers.

"Would you like me to give you a formula for success?  It's quite simple, really:  Double your rate of failure.  You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success.  But it isn't at all.  You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn fom it, so go ahead and make mistakes.  Make all you can. Because, remember, that's where you will find success" - Thomas J. Watson Read More...

Squeaky wooden floors are often caused by boards rubbing together. If this problem seems to occur at certain times of the year, it may be due to either seasonal swelling or shrinkage. If so, the squeaks can be temporarily remedied by sprinkling talcum powder in the affected area. However, chronic squeaking is caused by loosened flooring nails. Depending on the location of the nail(s), resolving the ... Read More...

Living up to the Trump name is likely a daunting task, but Eric has done it brilliantly!  The way he puts it is, "Our Mother was strict, she raised us with an iron fist".  Talking about the work ethic his mother and father had instilled in him, it is evident there was no free ride.  When Eric was younger, he was sent away from the city to the woods to work with his uncle in the logging ... Along the 2.5 km route, you could stop at the small food kiosk, outdoor skating rink ... Read More...
