Windsor Park lies north of Fermor Ave between Rue Archibald and Lagimodiere Blvd, between the St Boniface and Windsor Park golf courses and the sprawling CN Symington Yards. This community was developed in the 1950s and 60s, and was one of Winnipeg’s first planned communities, with the traffic-minimizing bays, and streets built around convenient parks, schools and recreational facilities.
This neighbourhood, with a strong francophone presence, is made up of 3,900 single family detached homes. Please see the Interactive Property Map for more information.
The schools in Windsor Park are managed by the Louis Riel School Division. There are five schools which are included; College Beliveau (7-12), Ecole Howden (M-6), Frontenac School (K-8), General Vanier School (K-8) and Winsor Park Collegiate ( 9-12). There is also one Manitoba Francophone School, Ecole Lacerte (K-12).
The community has several small plazas along the major roadways around the community. The major shopping just minutes away from Windsor Park is at the Niakwa Park Plaza, the Southdale Centre and Southdale Square, all adjoining Fermor Ave.
The area has many small community parks, though along the green space along the Seine is mostly developed as golf courses on this side. The Niakwa Golf and Country Club, Windsor Park (municipal) and the St Boniface golf clubs serve the community. In the winter, you can also cross-country ski at the Windsor Park Golf Course. Windsor Park is home to the Winakwa Community Centre which provides indoor and outdoor activity all year around. Also of interest in the area is the Royal Canadian Mint.
