Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is a picturesque town of approximately 970 people located on the eastern shore of the Avalon Peninsula in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is nestled deep in the heart of Motion Bay, just south (approximately 15 minutes away) of St. John's. The town settlement can be traced back to the 1600s. It is the site of the first hydroelectric generating station (Petty Harbour Generating Station) in Newfoundland and Labrador. Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is quickly becoming a world renowned tourist destination and is home to various attractions and accommodations to suite the taste of various travellers.  Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is still an active fishing community with fishers involved in the cod fishery and snow crab fishery.  The rolling green hills which envelope the Town and the ocean sprawled ahead of it has contributed to Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove being the most photographed Town in Newfoundland.
