City Information

Acton is a small community with a population of less than 10,000, located northwest of the Greater Toronto Area at  Highway 7 and Highway 25. In 1974, Acton became part of the Town of Halton Hills along with Georgetown and the Township of Esquesing.

Acton is known as "Leathertown" because of its history as a thriving centre for the tanning industry in the 19th century and early 20th century.

Fairy Lake, located in the heart of Acton, has a beach and boat rentals. This man-made lake is also popular with local fishing enthousiasts. Prospect Park, on the shore of Fairy Lake, is a great spot for picnics and sports such as baseball and tennis.

Things to Do

Acton boasts two golf courses. Acton Meadows is a private golf course just north of Acton and Blue Springs Golf Club is a beautiful 27-hole Clublink facility located just south of  Acton.

?

The Old Hide House, is widely known as Canada's largest leather store.

The new home of the Acton Branch of the Halton Hills Public Library opened its doors in February 2011.
