Almonte, ON

THE FRIENDLY TOWN has a great lifestyle to offer to satisfy all ages. To begin with, I can really say for a village of this size it has diversity of activities for every age level, complete with many cultural events such as the Highland Games, July first celebrations in Gemmil Park featuring local talent with of course fireworks, the puppet Festival, the Sat. Farmer's Market, the annual country fair, concerts and many clubs such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Legion, Shriners, Masons, the Almonte Civitan Club and the many churches all giving support to others in many ways. The local Hub is a store where people buy second hand treasures and clothing and the money is returned to the community. The main street offers a post office, baker, butcher, craft store,  bank, small cafe, Bistros, eclectic shops, book store, visual art programs, dance studio, restaurants, and a library . Curling and ice rink activities and swimming at the local beach as well as boating and fishing on The Mississippi River. Also there has been the recent addition of the River walk where one can enjoy the beauty of the water rushing over the falls. Throughout the year there are always events to go to or become involved.

The Almonte hospital serves the community with great care and there are doctors working in the community as well as dentists and senior support group.

Housing provides a large range of historic, older and the new homes in a wide range of prices. There are separate and public junior schools and one High School. The local strip mall provides a grocery store.drug stores , pet stores and dollar store ,hardware, furniture and consignment shopping, sports bars and Coffee shops and more.

Nearby Pakenham offers golfing and skiing and a whole venue of wonderful things to do all part of Mississippi Mills.

Did I forget to say it is a short drive to Kanata, but many believe it is far out, that is unfortunate for them to lose out the chance to have such a great lifestyle and the beauty of nature at your doorstep.

December is often a quieter time of year, allowing some time to regroup, relax, and be ready for the new year!  Read More...
