The Township of Athens is home to beautiful murals, historic churches, heritage homes and an abundance of outdoor activities. With a population of 2800 it is a cozy community located only 30 minutes north-west of Brockville, the nearest large city. The Village of Athens boasts a high school, public school and a beautiful historic community center, the Joshua Bates Center, which was opened in 1905 by Sir Wilfred Laurier. The main street boasts many small businesses and provides a community atmosphere and personal service lacking in large urban centers.
The Village is host to several festivals Farmersville, Cornfest and the Parade of Lights. Charleston Lake is located nearby and provides swimming , boating and fishing. Also nearby is a public golf course, trails for skiing, ATV's and snowmobiles and arena for skating and hockey.
This lovely rural setting is the perfect location to raise a family and enjoy the beauty of the countryside.
