The Magna Centre

Magna Centre opened its doors in 2007 as the largest community centre in Newmarket. The community centre is an amazing facility that serves the community no matter their recreational interests. It attracts members inside and outside of the community with interests like swimming, fitness and skating, as well as facilities that support meetings or groups.
Within this facility you will find:
A full sized gym; the gym also includes a walking track,
Three NHL (National Hockey League) sized ice rinks and one Olympic sized rink; making a total of four ice rinks,
A 25 meter community pool with an average temperature of 84 degrees, and a 21 metre learning or tot pool with an average temperature of 93 degrees. The pool facility also has a Swirl Pool or Jetted Pool, often referenced as a hot tub.
The Magna Centre is also home to Physx Systems applied kinesiology clinic, Proshop, CrossFit Groundworkx, Sabrina’s Pizzeria, and Timothy’s Coffee House. The restaurants in the Magna Centre are great places to satisfy small cravings, while watching events or to those in-between activities.

Ray Twinney Centre

The Ray Twinney Centre was built in 1985 and is home to The Stingrays. The Stingrays are a York Region’s number one swim club. The Stingrays are just one of many teams in the town. For many years this recreational facility has served the community of Newmarket by supporting home team’s training as well as providing the community with many leisure programs.
This recreational facility in Newmarket houses two large ice rinks for skating and hockey. These ice rinks are home to The Newmarket Figure Skating Club and Newmarket Hurricanes (the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League) and serves not only recreational and competitive teams within the community but also the public with leisure skating and lessons.
The Ray Twinney Centre has a pool facility that includes two indoor pools. The community pool measures 25 metres and 6 lanes. There is also a children’s or tot pool and 100 foot waterslide. The water slide is a feature at the Ray Twinney Centre that makes this community centre a family favourite for many. The pool facility also includes a Swirl Pool or jetted pool, often referred to as a hot tub as well as a dry sauna.
This community centre also includes multipurpose rooms that can be rented for parties and meetings to suit. Multipurpose rooms are available at the Ray Twinney Centre for rental and use.
The Ray Twinney Centre has ample parking to accommodate large games and events and is surrounded by sports fields for outdoor recreation. This includes a football field, soccer fields and baseball diamonds. Outside of the baseball diamond area you will find the convenience of his and her washroom facilities; saving you a trip back to the main building.
