July 1 marks Canada's 145th birthday, and there are a number of events taking place in and around Markham to commemorate this historical milestone.
Among one of the events is organized by the Town of Markham. In the afternoon, from 3pm to 6pm, visitors will enjoy live entertainment, children's activities, face painting, art displays and food vendors.
At 4pm, there will be a People's Parade that will run from the northwest corner of McCowan Road and Highway 7 to Milne Park, and will feature colourful floats, dancers, entertainers and much more. Children can join the parade!
Opening ceremonies, which will include the singing of our national anthem and greetings from the mayor and dignitaries, and performances by Christopher Dallo, will run from 6pm until 10pm.
At dusk will be a dazzling firework display of light, colour and sound at the Milne Dam Conservation Park.
There is free parking the Markville Shopping Centre and a complimentary shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes between the mall and the park. This event draws large crowds every year, and it is surely something you won't want to miss!
