Maple Syrup Festivals
Maple syrup generally runs February, March and April. The best sap flow comes from frosty nights and warm, sunny days. The season ends with bud development on the trees because the sap starts to turn bitter. Canada produces about 85% of the world's supply of maple syrup. Real maple syrup is a natural, nutrious sweetener with no additives. Maple syrup contains calcium, potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous and iron. Enjoy an outing with family and friends at a local maple syrup farm. Warkworth is holding its 25th maple festival March 12-13. For more information go to www.warkworthmaplesyrupfestival.ca.
