The warm and welcoming village is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario. Wellington overlooks the largest freshwater dunes in the world at Sandbanks, and is located in the heart of Prince Edward County's exciting new wine industry. Wellington's Main Street, known as the Loyalist Parkway, which dates back to 1799 and once bustled with hotels, taverns and horse drawn carriages. From our community museum located in the only remaining Quaker Meeting House in Prince Edward County displaying our great heritage, to the fine old architecture including one of the oldest homes in Ontario dated back to 1786, Wellington wears its history with pride.

 

In October 2008, the County of Wellington was named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. and featured in Maclean's newsmagazine. Later that month, the County was recognized as one of Waterloo Area's Top Employers and featured in the Guelph Mercury newspaper.

 

Our lakeside park, public beach and boardwalk, are very all close by the heart of the village. Wellington possesses modern docking facilities and fishing charters as well as fabulous B&B's, cottages and inns. Family and fine dining restaurants. Days spas and boutiques. Studios and galleries of our talented artists. Golf, kayaking, the County Marathon and year round festivals and celebrations. These are only a few of many things one can do here in Wellington. And of course within a 10 minute drive you can be sipping wine at one of the 8 area wineries. As well as all the comforts of home in this working village with a bank, post office, grocery and convenience store, library, greenhouse and flower shop, pharmacy, hardware store, laundromats, LCBO and churches.

 

Wellington County (2006 population 85,524) is a county located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The county, which is made up of two towns and five townships, is predominantly rural in nature. However many of its residents commute to Guelph, Kitchener, Brampton, Mississauga, and even Toronto.
