The Next Real Estate Course

Some of you may have given thought to taking the PEI Real Estate Association Pre-Licensing Course with the goal of a career in real estate, but the reality is that you couldn't take time out from your present obligations to do the course during regular business hours. The PEI Real Estate Association has recognized this obstacle and has tentatively scheduled the next course to begin on Saturday, May 19th 9 am - 5 pm and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 - 9pm. The course would run for 6 weeks with the final exam to be written on Thursday, June 28th. There is a limit of 9 people who can take the course. You've decided to list your home this Spring. While Spring seems ages away, realistically, it will be upon us in no time. Now is the time to get a head start on getting your home ready. Get started now de-cluttering and organizing. Once you can really SEE your home, it is easier to determine what comes next, paint touch ups, steam cleaning carpets, furnace servicing, etc.

Also, make note of home heating costs over the winter months to provide to a potential buyer. If more elaborate updates are required and you are considering renovating, quotes take time to obtain and the work can often take longer to complete that estimated so give yourself plenty of lead time. When thinking about purchasing a new home, many of us put the cart before the horse. We start house shopping before knowing what kind of mortgage we qualify for. Knowing where you stand financially will put you in charge of your home buying journey and potentially save you the time and heartache to a home that was out of your reach.

There has been a lot of talk about low interest rates on mortgages lately. It is true that we have historic lows available which do make your payments easier. Not every mortgage is the same make sure you understand what you are signing up for. Are you able to add more onto it later on? Are you able to pay extra on it during the term? What is your penalty if you sell your house and you don't get a new mortgage? All of these questions may not seem important when you are looking to get your mortgage but like life, things change and you want to make sure you have the right mortgage for your situation.
