The Town of Stratford has become known as the fastest growing municipality on Prince Edward Island in recent years. It has seen it's population grow substantially with the development of newer subdivisions like Pondside, Kinlock Creek and Stonington. There are many reasons why Stratford is attracting so many people who at one time may have thought that Stratford (known to many Islanders as Southport, Bunbury, Crossroads, Keppoch-Kinlock and Battery Point) was too far 'out' of Charlottetown. With Stratfords population swelling, need for a new elementary school has turned to fruition with the building of an elementary school for grades 4-6 being constructed next to the current grade 1-6 Glen Stewart Elementary school.
