It was in November 1852 that was founded the township of Aldfield, whose name is from an English village in Yorkshire, England. It is up the La Pêche river to the Lac-des-Loups and opening new yards timber that more were lucky to find a winter job. Soon, families are numerous to come and settle on land cleared by logging. The timber trade is the economic engine of the region, many person tried their luck in business by exploiting sawmills and wood transporting. It was not until 1893 that the residents of East Aldfield built a chapel and a cemetery. Then, the village is taking shape with a general store, post office and a schoolhouse. Tourism is already off in 1938 while big cities fishing enthusiasts come to relax and be lulled by our hundreds of lakes stocked with fish! Even today, East-Aldfield attracts many tourists with its rustic charm and beauty of its lakes.
