Landmarks

Delta Bessborough

The Delta Bessborough hotel is a ten-story hotel located in downtown Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The hotel was completed in 1932 but due to financial difficulties did not open until late 1935. The hotel underwent a major renovation in 2003 returning many of its historical features.

River Landing

The development of River Landing presents an exciting social, cultural and commercial focus - a showcase and lasting legacy for the citizens of Saskatoon, the people of Saskatchewan, and proud Canadians.

River Landing Phase 1 has reclaimed the riverfront with the development of an exciting new park, the construction of the River Centre, the future River Landing Village, the future Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan, the Remai Arts Centre, and the “Prairie Wind” landmark.

River Landing Phase 1

The Phase 2 redevelopment project is designed to enhance the sustainability of downtown by reclaiming and developing the A.L. Cole "brownfield" and surrounding area - literally the front yard of Saskatoon’s downtown.

The Arts

The Mendel Art Gallery

The Mendel Art Gallery is an important community and heritage landmark, and an invaluable educational resource. It is one of the more popular and culturally significant tourist destinations in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan.

The growth in size and diversity of the permanent collection, exhibitions, public programs and audiences over the past 45 years has incited the Gallery to launch a $51-million project to design and build a new facility.

Persephone Theater

In 2007 the Persephone Theater moved into their new theatre facility, the Remai Arts Centre on River Landing. A beautiful glass-front building in the heart of downtown Saskatoon, the Remai Arts Centre holds both a 421 seat main stage theatre and a 100 seat flexible second stage.

The Persephone Theatre supports the development and production of new work and local playwrights.

Technology

The Canadian Light Source is the only synchrotron in Canada and is located on the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) campus. It is operated by CLS Inc., a not-for-profit corporation owned by the U of S.
