Quesnel house is certainly one of the most beautiful houses
of Montreal's heritage. It was Built by Olivier Quesnel, a
master armorer of the local garrison and merchant. This
residence is an example of traditional Quebec architecture.
It reflects the construction engineering of the time with
its wood floors, stone fireplace and huge beams which gives
it a unique charm.
It was the birthplace of the Quesnel family in America and
witnessed countless historical events such as the fur
trade. It was later the summer residence of Cardinal Léger.
From it's vantage point, it's in habitants were witnesse to
the , construction of the Lachine Canal and the famous
rowing race of the legendary Ned Hanlan (the most famous
athlete of the time) against Edward Courtney in 1878! this
feat was achieved in front of over 100,000 people for a
purse of $ 10,000, a huge sum for the times.
Today, this real mansion is a 'home', a special warm
