LIFE AT HOME - January 2010

We are beginning a new year full of energy and hoping great success in all aspects. It is a great opportunity to compare real estate activity in 2008 versus 2009.

The beginning of 2008 was promising, but after 4 months started to slow down, while in 2009 happens the opposite, started slow but ended very strong.

There were almost 1,100 active listings in Kitchener-Waterloo by the end of 2008, while we ended 2009 with less than 700. This is creating some advantages for the persons who are listing their homes at this time, while the amount of buyers remains constant.

  • The average sale price was pretty steady comparing 2008 and 2009.
  • A new record for residential sales was set last month. Home sales hit 356 units in December 2009, a 60 % increase versus same month previous year.

Good time to sell your home during the winter. Take advantage that the house inventory at this moment is low. Also good time to buy a home and enjoy low interest rates.

I wish you a successful 2010 for you and your family and hopefully I will help you, your family or your friends in making wise and informed real estate decision this year.
