Celebrate Canada Day!

Canada will celebrate its 147th birthday in 2014 and grand events are set to take place to celebrate this momentous occasion in both Hamilton and Burlington.  We are so fortunate to live in one of the world’s greatest countries, so don your red and white, get together with friends and neighbours and help commemorate Canada’s big day at one of these great events.

The Canada Day Strawberry Social at Joseph Brant Museum will take place on July 1 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The whole family can take part in fun games, festive crafts, activities, museum tours and much more. There will also be special performances and live entertainment, the opportunity to explore the famous trifles and treasures market, enjoy delightful strawberry treats and fresh strawberries and ice cream. The best part? Admission is free!

If you’re looking for a lively way to celebrate Canada’s birthday, visit Spencer Smith Park where you will find live performances on two stages, a water ski show, the Nickel Brook Brewing Company licensed tent, children’s activities, a dog training show and much more! The day will kick off with a 5K walk/run at 9 a.m. and the festivities will continue throughout the day, capped off with a spectacular fireworks display at 10 p.m. Canada Day at Spencer Smith Park has been designated a Top 100 Festival in Ontario.

If you want to celebrate Canada Day while enjoying some amazing food, come to Hamilton’s beautiful Bayfront and Pier 4 Parks, nestled against Lake Ontario at the foot of Bay Street North. Close to a dozen of Ontario’s most delicious food trucks will descend on the city, offering up a variety of mouthwatering menu options. Enjoy gourmet grilled cheese, slow-smoked BBQ, tacos, vegetarian cuisine, ice cream and more. There will also be activities for kids, local entertainers and an incredible fireworks display at 10 p.m.

A tradition for many Hamiltonians, It's Your Festival at Gage Park is the only place to be on Canada Day weekend.  Enjoy free admission, delicious food, live music on five stages, kids activities and so much more! Check out www.itsyourfestical.ca for more information.

Happy Birthday, Canada!!!
