When I talk to my friends about living in Hamilton the immediate thoughts that come to their mind are: Steel City, Stelco, Smog, Industrial jobs and the Tiger Cats. Many of them are surprised to find out that Hamilton is a city of waterfalls. 126 waterfalls to be exact. Some are small, like the trickling waterfall that most drivers miss as they hurry down the escarpment on the 403 and others are extremely large, well known and a haven for wedding photographs during the summer such as Websters Falls.
A small group of individuals, commonly refered to as "the keepers of the falls" have made it their mission to expose Hamilton as the Waterfall Capital of the world rather than the stereotypes that have plaqued our city in the past.
Perhaps this summer when you are lookign for something for you and your family to do, instead of heading to Niagara Falls, pack a lunch and take a hike through Hamilton to see some of the great natural wonders our own backyard has to offer.
