Much to do in December in one of the world’s finest regions

Niagara Falls is a world-famous destination for entertainment, honeymooners and tourists. The region as a whole has plenty to offer beyond Niagara Falls with picturesque views of the escarpment, the Welland Canal and vast vineyards scattered between the Great Lakes, Ontario and Erie. With New Year’s Eve fast approaching, there is no shortage of ways to celebrate it in the Niagara region!

The City of Welland will be celebrating its 14th Annual Children’s New Year’s Eve Bash while Thorold has free Christmas skates at multiple times over the holidays. Perfect options for a busy family!

A great family outing in December is a visit to the Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse. For over 65 years Niagara Parks’ holiday display features miniature-restored selections of Cullen Village alongside poinsettas and other holiday swag and floral arrangements. The Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse accompanies the Ontario Generation Winter Festival of Lights and has become a must-see for countless families in the surrounding area on New Year’s. The Floral Showhouse is open Sunday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until January 12, 2015.

Guests at the Americana Hotel and Spa in Niagara Falls can celebrate New Year’s Eve with the whole family. This all ages New Year’s event will feature a kiddie countdown at 9:30 p.m. with streamer explosion and mocktails. Games, contest, buffet dinner and more all happens on December 31.

The biggest bash in the region has yet to announce its lineup for New Year’s Eve; however, fireworks displays will happen nightly from December 5 through January 12 over the Falls.

Put on your winter coat and stroll through one of the world’s finest regions over the holidays. Stunning floral arrangements, decorations, fireworks, wineries, casinos and wax museums all light up the festive spirit inside us this December.
