I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Where does time go? Way too much stuff has happened in the past while and now it is time to get back into the blogging swing.

First, a shout out to the K-Motel. We have several fine dining establishments so don't think I am putting one above the other, just that my wife had a birthday this week and we decided to go to the K on a snowy evening. It is always a nice atmosphere with great service and fantastic food. Jessica says it is one of the best places to have mushrooms and escargots, or as I call them fungus and monopods.

On to real estate things, many are probably wondering how 2012 ended off statistically. Last year was very strong in the market, with the second highest sales on record, behind only 2007. There were 292 residential properties sold on the MLS® system in 2012 in Swift Current. The median sales price, however, didn’t change much, up just $500 to $210,500.

There are certain pockets of price ranges which are moving faster than others, and some with more selection than others. But the one thing that remains constant is the benefit of involving a real estate professional in your search process. With so much information being available on the internet these days, people are using the variety of web sites to search for a home to buy. A good real estate agent will sit down with you and determine what your needs and wants are in a home and will help in finding the best options for you to look at. Too often I get a call from someone just wanting to see one house. Sometimes there is a reason, but more often it is because they think it is the “one” for them, then discover that there are only 2 bedrooms on the main floor and with 2 young children, they need at least 3. Anyone can unlock a door and point out the obvious. “Here is the kitchen (you can tell by the cupboards),” “Here is the bathroom,” etc. A real estate profession has knowledge of the properties on the market and will do more than answer the phone and hear what house you want to look at today. They will assist you in finding the options that fit your needs, saving YOU time and frustration.
