Sales are up and the number of incoming, new listings is down. Fraser Valley Real Estate Board info for the month of June to date shows the number of sales ahead of last year by 17% and ahead of last month by 24%. This, while listing numbers are down by 26% over June last year and by 13% over last month for the same time period.

Hockey history is made . . . the first ever AHL franchise on the West Coast has been granted to the City of Abbotsford. Exciting or what! Abbotsford will be the new home of the Calgary Flames number one farm team, bringing top notch, professional hockey to the Fraser Valley. Great news for west coast hockey fans and a wonderful addition to the prosperous, Abbotsford economy.

Great news! The home renovation tax credit announced via the new budget is going to make it happen. We're finally going to complete out renovation! I do hope we can find contractors that will be able to schedule us into their work line-up.
If I am correct, (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), tax credits are exactly that . . . they are considered as tax paid. Because of that, do your ...

When I signed on to the real estate multiple listing website hosted by the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board yesterday, I received the usual statistical summary. Nothing new there but I was quite surprised to see the report for the first 5 business days of February when compared to the first 5 business days of January. The numbers . . . January 09, first 5 reporting days, showed 50 sales reported for ...

I came across an interesting article in the Globe and Mail. It was titled Cheer up: Canada's in good shape.
The item brought back memories of the 80's and early 90's and even though it didn't get into specifics when it came to the official posted Jobless Rate in Canada, I recall hearing numbers back then like 10.5% and even up to 13% and those were "Seasonally Adjusted", presuming they would be lower ...

2009 Market Prediction - or . . . I might as well, everyone else is, or . . . "Boll-weevil's gotta have a home."
Actually, it's never a bad time to buy if you need a place to live and you are in a financial postition to do so. After all, why pay down someone elses mortgage via your rent when you could be building equity yourself?
Is it a good time to buy an investment or rental property? ...

Congradulations to our receptionist, Shannon. The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce recently held it's Annual Business Excellance Award function. Shannon had been nominated, along with 12 others from various businesses, for Customer Service Excellence - Individual . . . and . . . she won!
Of course, we did expect her to win, but still take this opportunity to brag a little. Day after day Shannon ...

Is it just me or do others notice the constant negative reporting when there is very little negative to report? for example: this morning on Global, a major anouncement that a Merel Lynch honsho is saying the Canadian Mortgage market is near collapse . . . just like the American mortgage market. They gave the guy about 20 seconds and cut him off before he could explain the differences between the two ...
