I am so honoured to be given the opportunity to be one among many named to carry the Olympic Torch in one of the largest relays ever planned. Over 45,000 kilometers in all. Starting on October 30, 2009 and culminating with the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver on February 12, 2010.
Imagine the number of people visiting over 1000 communities and points of interest across Canada. It will take 100 days to go from one coast of Canada to the other at approximately 300 meters at a time. My hat goes off to the organizing team and the sponsors, RBC and Coca-Cola and the Government of Canada who are undertaking this awesome Event. It took me months of applications and surviving the process to be chosen. I get to do MY 300 meters right before the Townhall in Renfrew Ontario on December 13, 2009 at 12:40.
So consider this your invitation to come out and cheer, take video, pictures and simply share in this dream with me. If you can not make it to Renfrew go on the official website and find a spot along the route for anyone that you know (or not) and cheer. When we focus on these types of positive, uplifting activities we can't help but catch the spirit that is always associated with the coming together of all the world in harmony, enjoying healthy Competion and striving for Excellence at these Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Hope to see you all there.
