Recently the Finance Minister announced that government insured mortgages (CHMC) mortgages will no longer allow amortization periods of 30 years. This means that with a 25 year amortization period the affordability factor is impacted. Cities such as Vancouver where prices are much higher than most other cities, could be impacted by this new regulation.
