One of my favorite places in Red Deer is the Farmers Market. I go whenever I have a free Saturday morning. Sometimes its a quick dash to visit my favorite vendors but most times its a slow stroll up and down all the rows . Its amazing how large the market has grown over the years, simply bursting its seams.I have on occassion visited other markets in Alberta & beyond and have yet to find anything that rivals it.
Recently I was told of bus tours coming to our market because (according to the bus drive) only the people of Red Deer dont know how famous this market is. The addition of food vendors has made it a great stop to have your breakfast in the fresh air. My grandchildren favor the mini-doughnuts and my husband loves the fish tacos. It truly has something for all ages and you are bound to meet up with many friends & neighbors to catch up on all the latest news.
So if,like many Red Deerians, haven’t visited our "Market" in a while , try it again and I promise you will be pleasantly surprised. Expect it to be busy and be patient finding a place to park. Also bring cash and a large shopping bag because you are bound to go home with more than you expected especially this time of year when produce is so abundant. If you do go and you see me there, with my husband or sisters or children & grandchildren, please stop and say hello because that’s what its all about.
