With what finally seems like the first real sunny day in September we're gearing up for a busy weekend in real estate. The Red Deer real estate activity has turned around compared to August already and we have a week or so left in the month to go.
The story for most of 2010 has been that sales were down 30% from last year. That story is about to change and has been changing all month long here in September 2010. Last year from Sept 1 - Sept 24th we recorded 104 MLS® sales for the city of Red Deer while this year we are presently at 98 MLS® sales. That's a mere 6% below 2009. A far cry from the 30% we have been experiencing.
Is it a sign that we've turned the corner?
With August numbers being lower than February, I'm incline to say that August 2010 was the lowest point in our present real estate cycle. However, I am cautious to not celebrate too much. But...sales trend so far is...
A slow increase in sales and a gradual decline in listings coming on the market.
