What an amazing event! If you have children or grandchildren then consider getting them involved in this amazing event. Over 450 Central Alberta athletes competed this year.
KIDS OF STEEL (KOS) triathlons are designed to offer kids and young adults the opportunity to experience the sport of triathlon in a positive environment. The distances are much shorter than those in adult triathlons, and change as participants mature. Most kids are fit enough to finish a KOS triathlon successfully and have fun at the same time.
My grandchildren participated for the and had a very exciting day. Gavin is 7 and it was his first time competing, he loved it and will definitely be back next year. Riley Jane is 8 and this was her second year & even though the weather wasn't cooperating for them (it was cold & rainy) she was a real trooper.
I will advise that if you have more than one athlete bring along some support (helpers) Its hard to watch both swimmers, bikers & runners when they are in different age groups.
All I can say is Thank You to all the many volunteer helpers that make this possible. Check you their Facebook page for more info.
