Home Inspection Checklist

When you make an offer to purchase a home, make sure it's conditional upon a home inspection. A home inspection will give you peace of mind and will identify any issues/repairs that will need to be completed. Make sure the home inspector covers at least the following areas:

Foundation

Exterior & Interior Doors

Windows

Roof

Exterior Walls

Attic (including insulation)

Plumbing & Electrical Systems

Heating/Air Conditioning Systems

Ceilings

Walls

Floors and flooring

Kitchen Cabinets

Insulation in Walls

Ventilation

Septic Tank or sewer connection

Well and water pump or water lines

Other buildings (e.g. detached garage)

Eavestroughs and drainage

Driveway

Common areas (condo apartments and townhouses)

Other areas

Make sure you get a written reports (with pictures) from your home inspector.
