Canada Day in Barrie!

In addition to Promenade Day festivities from June 29-July 3, there will be other fun activities going on in the city!

Canada Day 2018 Lineup

Family Fun Zone presented by Tim Hortons
Heritage Park 1–9pm
 

The following family fun activities will take place in Heritage Park: 

  • Inflatables and games from Party Tyme Treats & Amusements 
  • Free face painting with Clarabella the Clown presented by Telus, Canada's largest and fastest network
  • Vendors, including furniture, accessories, jewelry, sweets, hot food, cold drinks, clothing and much more
  • Free exhibits and activities including Canadian wildlife displays, kids dance and more
  • Fire and Glow performances
Entertainment on the Promenade Days Stage  

Free entertainment all day on the Promenade Days stage at Dunlop Street East, including a special lineup of local and regional talent that reflected Canada’s Heritage.

Fitness in the Park

New for 2018 we'll be showcasing local fitness entrepreneurs with a series of free classes and demonstrations all day long.  All classes are free and drop-ins are welcome!

1:30–2:00pm Spaulding Circus Aerial Silks, Student Demonstration Group - Nestled among the trees in the aerial rig, students ages 9–18 will showcase their skills on the aerial silks. They will exhibit strength and flexibility all while suspended in air. 
2:002:30pm Zumba with Tatum - A fitness class that boosts energy up with a compilation of 4 different dance styles cumbia, reggae-ton, salsa, and meringue. 
2:302:40pm Spaulding Circus Aerial Silks, Professional Act by Aisha Chiandet - Aisha has been performing aerial arts professionally for 6 years. She will wow you with her graceful movements, daring drops and creative play in the aerial silks.  
2:403:00pm Spaulding Circus Aerial Silks, Student Demonstration Group - Nestled among the trees in the aerial rig, students ages 9 - 18 will showcase their skills on the aerial silks. They will exhibit strength and flexibility all while suspended in air. 
3:303:40pm Spaulding Circus Aerial Silks, Aerial Silks Act by Simon Helm - Our only male performer, Simon will blow you away with his power and exceptional flexibility.

Green Street Challenge 
Owen Street, June 30 – July 2, 10am–5pm daily
 

Landscape Ontario, the National Sod Growers Association, Come Alive Outside and the City of Barrie present the Green Street Challenge - an opportunity for residents and visitors in Barrie to celebrate the importance of outdoor play.  Sod will be laid down on the bottom of Owen Street; creating a pop-up park for all to enjoy

Come play on a street of green in downtown Barrie all weekend long, featuring giant chess, giant Jenga, giant checkers, parachute games and more OR join us at the times below to try out some of the amazing programs offered by the City of Barrie's Recreation team. Classes are free and drop-ins are welcome!

Fireworks over Kempenfelt Bay  

Friends and neighbours are invited to gather around the bay to take in the fireworks spectacular at 10pm.

Fireworks can be viewed from anywhere along our waterfront, however recommended viewing and photography areas are Heritage Park and Allandale Station Park, near the Southshore Centre.

 **In the event of thunderstorms or heavy winds, the fireworks will be postponed to July 2nd at 10:00pm.  Stay tuned to local radio stations for updates.
