Happenings Around Town This Weekend!
The final weekend of October, the trees are certainly glorious in all their vibrant colours and the chill in the air tells us that Winter is not far off. This weekend, however, the forecast is calling for clear skies and slightly warmer temps so what better time to get out and enjoy some of the great things going on in the Halifax-Dartmouth area.
City Harvest – October 27 and 28
Sponsored by I Love Local (HFX), City Harvest is a celebration of all things local. Put your sneakers on, grab the City Harvest map and head out to explore and enjoy this great city we live in. Celebrate the Fall season and the many local businesses and shops as they provide specials, entertainment and all round good fun. Building on the success of Open City in the Spring, Harvest City is sure to please everyone.

Pumpkin Festival at The Seaport Farmer’s Market – Sunday, October 28th
Pumpkin carving contest, best pumpkin pie contest, pumpkin walk…. and a giant 800-900 pound pumpkin! Fun for the whole family!
Hal-Con 2012 – October 26 – 28 at the World Trade and Convention Centre
For the third year, Halifax is once again home to this sci-fi, fantasy and gaming convention, the largest of it kind in Atlantic Canada. Channel you inner geek and check out all this convention has to offer – gaming, comics, sci-fi and exciting guests.
Bluenose Ghosts Festival to October 31st
At Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, visit a Haunted House, go on an interactive Cemetery Tour and watch scary movies!
Nevermore: The Halloween Visions of Edgar Allan Poe – ongoing to November 4th
Presented by Shakespeare by the Sea, this is an original take on the short stories and poems of the legendary horror write Edgar Allan Poe.
Yes it is that time of year.... the 1st of the Christmas Craft Shows takes place this weekend at the Dartmouth Sportsplex! The Dartmouth Handcrafter’s Guild is a non-profit organization and all of the net proceeds from the weekend are donated to charity. So if you want to start that Christmas shopping early, be sure to check out this great event.
