It’s the little things sometimes that make all the difference in how your day goes.
Yesterday morning I met with a FSBO that I was hoping would list with me. I have kept in touch with this client, met with him several times and provided some advice in terms of the property he had to sell. As it turns out, he had an offer on the place and so for me, no listing.
He wanted to meet yesterday to simply say “Thanks” for my time – in his words specifically - “you gave me something special – your time – and I’ll always remember you for that”.
It’s so simple and yet sometimes we are so busy thinking about the next sale or how to get the next listing that we don’t take the time to simply help someone out with some free advice. I am quite sure that the next time my client hears someone ask about a good Realtor my name will come up – better that I get a referral for having done something so simple than not be thought of because I couldn’t take the time to help someone out.
For me, this small interaction made my day and just means I now have to move on to the next client and the next listing but I will do that feeling just a little bit better about myself! What we do afterall is all about providing the best service we can to our clients.
