Tall Ship Festival 2012!

Tall Ships in HalifaxAnd so it begins...

They started to arrive in Halifax yesterday and will continue for the next couple of days – the Tall Ships, part of the Tall Ship Festival in Nova Scotia from July 19 to 29.

This weekend the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts will be alive with people anxious to see these beautiful ships that are so much a part of our maritime history. There will be opportunities to tour the ships and meet the crews, take part in Taste of Nova Scotia demos and taste tests, hear great music of all kinds, see fireworks displays each night and for the kids (or the kids-at-heart) a pirate’s haunted house at Alderney Landing.

A Concert First....

And for the first time ever, a concert on George’s Island. Approximately 2500 people will be ferried from Bishop’s Landing to George’s Island to hear Newfoundland band Hey Rosetta play in a history-making concert on George’s Island. Something new for Halifax!

Parade of Sail....

And on Monday at noon, be on hand along the waterfront as these magnificent ships take part in the Parade of Sail after which they head out to their next destinations - some to ports in Nova Scotia and others to points beyond.

So much to see and do over the next 4 to 5 days – it’s Summer in Halifax and the Tall Ships Festival will be a memorable part of it! Enjoy!
