What a weekend and week!

With the beautiful weather and a seemingly never ending series of events, this is setting out to be a wonderful start to the season.

First off, congratulations to the Edmonton Rush, winners of the 2015 National Lacrosse League.

Then we have some huge events that started yesterday including Edmonton Pride Festival, this year it’s been moved to Whyte Ave and the parade is today at 11 am. Running along Whyte from 104 St to 109 st, it will be an explosion of colour and music! There will also be many events throughout the city. This year should be especially celebratory, due to the passing of Bill 10 and also the results of the referendum in Ireland.

The Edmonton Craft Beer festival is at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Of course there are the two farmer’s markets – one in Old Strathcona and my favourite on 104 St.

Nextfest runs for 10 days from the 4th – 14th and features a variety of film, art, theatre, dance and music productions at various venues throughout the city. 3 very good friends of mine are heavily involved in this and I know that it will be a top quality series of events.

On the International stage the Women’s World Cup kicks off Saturday afternoon with Canada v China and the New Zealand v Netherlands. The games are at Commonwealth and transit is free with your game ticket.
