Home sales activity in Winnipeg came in just below year-ago levels in the second quarter of 2011. The median selling price also climbed to a new quarterly record.
Residential property sales numbered 3,919 units in the second quarter, edging down one per cent from a year earlier.
Single detached sales activity was down just two per cent from year-ago levels in the second quarter of 2011.
The number of months of inventory for single detached homes was down from levels recorded at the end of the second quarter of 2010. Despite a tighter market balance, homebuyers spent the same amount of time shopping as they had a year earlier.
The median sale price for single detached homes increased six per cent year-over-year to $243,250 in the second quarter of 2011, the highest median price on record.
