Highlights of the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada

The Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia consists of a collection of towns, villages, and communities set against a backdrop of apple orchards and world famous high tides.  The area is a perfect place to relocate and buy real estate!

Windsor, that "Gateway to the Valley", is the birthplace of hockey.  Kentville is considered the business sector of the Valley while New Minas is its shopping center.  Wolfville is home to Acadia University, ranked as one of the top ten Universities in Canada.  CFB Greenwood, located in the Kingston/Greenwood area, is base to the Sea-King helicopters and Aurora planes, part of the military's Search and Rescue Operation.  Several other communities such as Berwick, Middleton, Coldbrook and Canning offer a variety of shops and services and unique charm.

Sporting fields and venues highlight many communities.  Soccer, baseball and hockey, as well as cycling clubs, bowling leagues, and dance classes, are only some of the activities available to one and all.

Known as "Canada's First Bread Basket", the Annapolis Valley is dotted with farm markets, galleries, and craft shops.  Each year the Annapolis Valley celebrates it's rich agricultural heritage with countless fairs and festivals.  Rich in area history, the poem "Evangeline" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow recalls how French colonists, called Acadians, were driven from their homes by British troops.  Grand Pre Park, near Wolfville, commemorates the tragedy of the expulsion of the AcadiansHaliburton House, Prescott House, the old Kings County Courthouse and several other historical sites help us discover our past.

Though the Annapolis Valley is stepped in history, it is also acutely modern.  Annapolis Royal is a prime example of this.  Founded in 1605, it is one of the oldest communities in North America.  Attractions in this town, however, include not only the beautiful historical gardens and Habitation, which is a replica of the original French settlement, but also Nova Scotia Power's Annapolis Royal Tidal Power Project, which uses the force of the Fundy tides to produce electricity and is the first of its kind in all of Canada and the US.

Real Estate in the Annapolis Valley is as varied as the people who live here.  From historic homes and "Bed & Breakfasts" to new construction, from working farms or hobby farms to building lots in one of the rural areas or popular subdivisions, from Fundy shoreline to waterfront lots on one of the many lakes, there's a real estate match just for you.
